2026 NWAC Softball Championship Begins Thursday at Delta Park
PORTLAND, Ore. - The 2026 NWAC Softball Championship commences on Thursday, May 14 at Delta Park - Owen Sports Complex with a new format. Prior to this season, the tournament was reduced from 16 teams to 12 teams and the first four games were changed to single-elimination. The top-four teams in the tournament receive a first-round bye and will face the winners of the first four games. From there, it will be an eight-team, double-elimination tournament.
Mt. Hood, Lower Columbia, Edmonds and SW Oregon each earned the first four seeds of the tournament, thus receiving the first-round byes. The seedings were determined by the NWAC RPI (Rating Percentage Index) rankings. Mt. Hood finished with the top RPI of 0.619, closely followed by defending champions Lower Columbia at 0.614. Edmonds is third at 0.607, followed by SW Oregon at 0.598.
No. 8 Everett takes on region rival No. 9 Bellevue in Game 1 at 10 a.m., while No. 5 Spokane will face No. 12 Chemeketa in Game 2, also at 10 a.m. The second two single-elimination games will take place after at 12:30 p.m. with No. 6 Walla Walla facing No. 11 Centralia, and No. 7 Clackamas taking on No. 10 Columbia Basin.
The tournament will be played on two fields at Delta Park for the first two days before cutting down to just one field on Saturday when four teams remain. Three more games will be played on Saturday to determine the championship teams for Sunday.
