Rogue Cruises to Sweep of Walla Walla to Reach First-Ever Final Four

PASCO, Wash. — The Rogue Ospreys put together a dominant performance to sweep Walla Walla in three sets to end the quarterfinal round of the 2025 NWAC Volleyball Championship at Columbia Basin College.

The victory for the Ospreys marks the furthest they have ever been in program history in the NWAC tournament. Rogue will be one of three teams in the final four, joining Treasure Valley and Bellevue, that have never won the championship. Edmonds is the lone team with a title, but that was not since 1979.

Rogue enjoyed an all-around dominant performance on Friday night, winning all three sets by at least four points and closing out the final set by a 25-14 score. The Ospreys hit .219 for the match while holding the Warriors to a low .015 hitting percentage.

RCC initiated the set with momentum, quickly establishing a 4-1 lead in the first set, highlighted by Piper O'Farrell's two kills, both assisted by Shayla Lacamiento. WWCC responded with a service ace from Kennedy Coleman, which tied the score at 6-6. WWCC briefly took an 8-6 lead as Coleman continued to serve effectively. However, the Ospreys regained control with a series of kills by Danica Becerril, who was instrumental in tying and then extending the lead. Despite Bethany Phillips' efforts with multiple kills for WWCC, RCC capitalized on attack errors from Aubree Zimmer to close the set 25-21.

WWCC initially gained momentum with consecutive kills and a service ace to lead 7-3, prompting a timeout from RCC. However, Rogue responded decisively, with O'Farrell serving four aces in a row to turn the tide and give RCC a 13-9 advantage. Despite WWCC's efforts to regain control, including a series of kills by Natalie Evers and Aubree Zimmer, RCC maintained their lead. The set concluded with a sequence of plays from the Ospreys, highlighted by a kill from Atalani Cook and another from O'Farrell, securing a 25-18 victory for the home team.

Rogue capitalized on multiple errors by WWCC to secure a decisive 25-14 victory in the third set. Julia Brehm led the Ospreys with several key plays, including a kill at 6-9 and the set-winning point at 24-14, both assisted by Lacamiento. WWCC struggled with attack errors, contributing significantly to the Ospreys' extended lead, most notably when O'Farrell and Becerril each scored following WWCC's miscues. Despite a brief rally from WWCC, including a service ace by Kaidyn Maioho, RCC maintained control, closing the set with a commanding performance.

Lacamiento stood out on the Ospreys team with a notable performance, recording 33 assists, which was a key component in setting up the offensive plays. Olivia Stubenrauch was a defensive asset, leading with 16 digs, showcasing her ability to keep plays alive. O'Farrell contributed significantly with 10 kills and led the team in service aces, recording five, which contributed to her team-high 15 total points. Meanwhile, Becerril added offensive strength with 11 kills and managed two block assists.

Coleman was a defensive standout for the Warriors, leading the team with 19 digs. Lauryn York played a pivotal role as the primary setter, recording 24 assists, facilitating the team's offensive plays effectively. Phillips demonstrated efficiency in her attacks, achieving a hitting percentage of .462 with eight kills, while also contributing defensively with two total blocks. Evers added to the offensive strike force with eight kills.

The Ospreys will next face Bellevue in the semifinal with the match taking place on Saturday at 5 p.m. at Columbia Basin College.
